Sir Patrick Stewart A Legacy Beyond the Stars Memorial Whiskey Glass

This rocks glass carries a black-and-gold tribute wrapped around the front. "Sir Patrick Stewart" arches across the top in gold capitals, above a spotlit chair resting on a chessboard, with two red roses on the seat and laurel branches curling up either side. Below sit the dates "1940–2026" and the line "A Legacy Beyond the Stars," and a checkered band of black and gold squares runs along the base.

The glass is square-shouldered with a solid, heavy bottom, the kind of tumbler that feels settled on a bar top. Filled with whiskey, the amber shows through the clear areas and warms the gold detailing. The print sits high enough on the wall that it stays visible above a single large ice cube, so the tribute faces whoever sits across the table.

The chessboard belongs to one of film's great friendships

The chessboard printed on this glass points to a famous scene. As the original X-Men film closes, Professor Xavier visits Magneto in a prison built entirely of plastic, and the two old adversaries sit down to a game of chess. Magneto was played by Ian McKellen, and their quiet, competitive affection carried through the films that followed.

What made the scene work was that the friendship behind it was real. Stewart and McKellen became genuinely close during those films, and fans could feel it in every exchange across the board. Two classically trained actors, both knighted, were playing old friends who disagreed about everything except their respect for each other, and the casting made that easy to believe.

Held to the light, the checkered base band frames the dates.

Off screen, two knights shared the stage and a wedding

The two actors went on to play Vladimir and Estragon together in Waiting for Godot, first in the West End in 2009 and later on Broadway. Night after night they waited for someone who never arrived, and audiences treasured the chance to watch two old friends trading lines in Beckett's tragicomedy.

When Stewart married the singer Sunny Ozell in 2013, it was McKellen who conducted the ceremony. After Sir Patrick's death on 28 October 2026, McKellen's own tribute pointed fans toward one last appearance, saying his friend's farewell performance in Avengers: Doomsday "is yet to be seen."

A rocks glass invites a toast and a memory

Some tributes belong on a shelf, while this one is made to be used. Pour a measure, raise it to the screen when Xavier and Magneto sit down to their game, and tell whoever is with you how you first came to know his work. Enjoy it slowly and responsibly, the way a good conversation should be enjoyed.

It also makes a natural companion to other memorial drinkware. Fans who keep a set of tribute pieces may already own the tribute tumbler for Tim Curry, and this glass fits beside it on the same bar cart.

The perfect gift for the friend who shares your favourite scenes

Give it to the person you watched the X-Men films with, the one who can still quote the plastic-prison chess game word for word. A glass like this says you remember those evenings too, and that the friendship you share is worth honouring as much as the actor himself. Wrap it with a bottle of their favourite pour and a note naming the scene you both love.

For a fan who already owns the films, this glass adds something they cannot stream. It turns a rewatch into a small ritual, and it keeps two old friends, Xavier and Magneto, Stewart and McKellen, at the table every time it is filled.
