Cristiano Ronaldo The Last Salute Portugal 2003-2026 Tribute Statue

You know the moment if you have ever stayed in your seat after the final whistle. The players drift toward the tunnel, and then the captain stops, turns toward your section and lifts both hands above his head to applaud. For twenty-three years Portuguese supporters saw Cristiano Ronaldo do it, and this statue holds the gesture at its height.

He stands in the red shirt with the captain’s armband, green shorts and red socks pulled high, white boots planted on sculpted turf. Behind him rises a tall gold 7, and at his feet stand three silver trophies labelled 2019, Euro 2016 and 2025, above a gold nameplate reading The Last Salute, Cristiano Ronaldo, 7, Portugal 2003–2026.

The applause points outward, toward the stands

Most player statues celebrate a goal, arms flung wide. This one faces the crowd instead, because the pose is about gratitude rather than triumph, hands pressed together mid-clap. Whoever stands in front of the shelf becomes the stand he is applauding.

It matches the tone of his farewell on 5 November 2026, when he read a letter to supporters and told them, “No captain walks alone and you're all part of my story.” A statue built on that sentence could not show him alone with a cup held overhead, so the trophies sit low, at his feet, where a whole squad can share them.

Three finals are set into the base

Each trophy on the plinth stands for a night Portugal finished a tournament as winners with him wearing the armband. All three came in different cities:

1. Paris, 10 July 2016. The Euro final against France at the Stade de France. Forced off injured early, Ronaldo spent extra time on the touchline urging his teammates on until Éder’s strike won it 1-0.
2. Porto, 9 June 2019. The first Nations League final, on home soil. Gonçalo Guedes scored the only goal against the Netherlands, and the captain lifted a brand-new trophy before his own people.
3. Munich, 8 June 2025. A 2-2 final against Spain in which Ronaldo, at 40, scored the equalizer before Portugal won the shootout for a second Nations League title.

On a shelf among framed photos and a scarf.

The plinth reads like a plaque outside an old stadium

The base borrows the look of the stone plaques at the gates of historic grounds, with a gilded border and laurel sprays around the nameplate. Its three short lines do the work of a biography, from the title of the moment to a span that began with a friendly in August 2003 and closed with a letter in November 2026.

The collector box keeps the mood, with Ronaldo’s portrait looking upward across deep green and another 7 inside a laurel on the red spine. It is worth keeping too.

Held up in the stands, facing the pitch it came from.

Portugal is planning its own tribute, and fans can offer theirs now

The Portuguese federation has said it will honor Ronaldo with a tribute of its own, and he goes on playing for Al Nassr while he chases a thousand career goals. The national-team chapter, though, is complete, with a known first line and a known last one.

Set it beside a framed match photo, a scarf from Lisbon, or our Obrigado, Capitão tribute jersey hanging nearby. Together they make the statue’s quiet point, that the salute always went both ways.

Statue and box, lit gold like the end of a long night.

A career built on goals and records ends, in this sculpture, with a man applauding the crowd. Keeping that image on a shelf is a small way of applauding back.
