The Nightmare Before Christmas Jack Skellington 3D Cosplay Backpack

This mini backpack turns Jack Skellington's whole outfit into a bag. The body is black with crisp white pinstripes, cut in panels like the lapels of his suit. The front pocket is Jack's round white face, with huge black eye sockets and his stitched grin, and two skeletal hands wrap around the bottom as if he is hugging the bag shut. On top sits his bat-shaped bow tie, flanked by spiky pinstripe tendrils, and a white carry handle arcs over it all.

The back is pinstriped too, with padded straps and white piping that follow the same black-and-white scheme, so the bag looks finished from behind as well as from the front. Even the straps carry the pinstripe theme, which matters on a bag that is mostly seen from the back.

Every part of the bag is a piece of Jack's costume

A "cosplay" bag works when you can name each element. Here is how this one maps to the character:

Bag detail	From Jack's look
Black-and-white pinstripes	His tailored pinstripe suit
Round front pocket	His skull face with oval eye sockets and stitched smile
Bat bow tie	The bat that sits at his collar in place of a tie
Bony hands at the base	His long skeletal fingers
Spiky top tendrils	The spiky silhouette of his tails and lapels

Because each part is applied separately rather than printed flat, the bag has depth, and the face pocket stands out from the stripes like a mask. In photos it reads as a little character riding on your back.

Henry Selick and Tim Burton made Jack an icon in 1993

The Nightmare Before Christmas reached theatres in 1993, with Henry Selick directing and Tim Burton supplying the original story and characters. Jack, the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, was animated frame by frame in stop motion, and his long pinstripe figure became one of the most recognisable silhouettes in animation. Danny Elfman, who wrote the film's songs, also provided Jack's singing voice.

More than three decades later, Jack is a year-round icon rather than a seasonal one. Fans wear him in October, in December and every month between, which is why a bag designed as his costume makes sense as an everyday accessory.

The Jack-face pocket opens with a zip.

The face pocket is the part people notice

The round front pocket is where the design does its best work. Jack's grin is stitched across it, and the zip runs along the top edge, so when it is closed the face looks whole. It is handy for a phone, keys or tickets, and it puts Jack's face right where people will see it when you walk past.

The skeletal hands below it frame the pocket, giving the impression that Jack is holding his own head out for you, which is a very Halloween Town sense of humour. It is the kind of visual joke the film itself loves, where scary shapes turn out to be friendly.

Made for park days, conventions and city streets

The compact size suits a day at a theme park, a comic convention or a night out where a full backpack would be too much. Worn on both shoulders it stays close to the body, and the top handle makes it easy to grab from a chair or hang on a hook. Add the Jack Skellington Custom High-Top Sneakers and the outfit is complete from head to toe.

It is also a memorable gift for a Nightmare Before Christmas fan who already owns the mugs and ornaments and wants something they can wear. Few fan items get as many compliments on a walk through town.
