Sir Patrick Stewart A Legacy Beyond the Stars 1/6 Scale Memorial Diorama

This diorama recreates Professor Xavier's wheelchair in one-sixth scale. The chair has a padded black seat and backrest, brushed-silver arms, a joystick control on the right armrest and large spoked wheels. A single red rose with green leaves lies across the seat. The whole piece stands on a cracked, stone-effect plinth, and a gold nameplate on the front reads "Sir Patrick Stewart, 1940–2026, A Legacy Beyond the Stars."

At the foot of the chair sits a wooden chessboard in the middle of a game. Some pieces still stand on their squares, while others have toppled onto the plinth, and the small black and white figures give the scene a story you can read from across the room.

Chess was the language of Xavier's greatest friendship

The chessboard is the heart of this piece. In the final scenes of X-Men, Xavier calls on Magneto inside his plastic cell, and the two old friends sit down to play chess while discussing whether peace between humans and mutants is possible. Neither man gives an inch, and neither stops caring about the other.

Their conversation over a board defined the relationship for the rest of the saga. Ian McKellen, who played Magneto, was also one of Stewart's closest friends off screen, which gave every match between them an extra warmth.

Under a single spotlight, the chair throws a long shadow over the board.

The toppled pieces tell a story without words

A finished game would feel final, so the sculptors left this one open. Some pieces are still in play while others lie on their sides across the plinth, as if the players stood up mid-match and never came back. It is a quiet way to suggest that a conversation has been interrupted rather than ended.

The open game suits this moment well. Stewart passed away in late October 2026, yet his last film, Avengers: Doomsday, has yet to reach cinemas. In a sense, his Xavier still has one more move to make, and fans can mark that coming chapter alongside a Marvel skyline building block set on the same shelf.

Days of Future Past brought the old friends back to the board

In X-Men: Days of Future Past in 2014, Stewart and McKellen returned as the older Xavier and Magneto, now allies in a ruined future, working together to send Wolverine back in time. Seeing the two rivals side by side again gave long-time viewers a satisfying sense of reconciliation after years of conflict.

The chair on this diorama belongs to that whole arc, from the first chess game to the last alliance. Collectors who know the films will catch the detail at once, while newcomers will simply see an elegant memorial with a mystery at its feet. Either way, it rewards a second look, because the arrangement of the fallen pieces changes depending on where you stand.

On a lit shelf at home, it reads as both a film tribute and a personal memorial.

A centrepiece for a collector's shelf

At one-sixth scale, the diorama has real presence without overwhelming a room. It works on a home-office shelf, in a glass display cabinet or as the centre of a wider X-Men collection, and the gold nameplate makes its purpose clear to anyone who stops to look.

Long-time X-Men fans who have followed Xavier since 2000 will understand it instantly. For everyone else, it is a dignified way to remember an actor who could make an empty chair feel full of meaning.
