New York Knicks 2026 NBA Champions Build Madison Square Garden Advent Calendar

New York has built the Garden four times. The first two rose at Madison Avenue and 26th Street, beside the park that gave the arena its name, the third moved uptown to Eighth Avenue in 1925, and the fourth opened on February 11, 1968, stacked on top of Penn Station, where it still calls itself the World's Most Famous Arena.

Here it is built for the fifth time, by hand, as a champion. The box art shows the Empire State Building lit over a night skyline, the Knicks wordmark in orange, and a gold Larry O'Brien trophy beside a banner reading 2026 NBA Champions. Along the bottom the bowl is packed with blue seats, and a small gold trophy already stands at center court.

The finished Garden, roof ring and hanging scoreboard included, with the trophy on the court.

Every Garden has belonged to the whole city

Each version hosted far more than basketball, from circuses and prize fights to political conventions and concerts, which is why New Yorkers talk about the Garden as a place rather than a venue. The four buildings that have carried the name look like this:

Garden	Opened	Where it stood	Remembered for
First	1879	Madison Avenue and 26th Street	The arena that gave the name its address
Second	1890	The same corner, rebuilt	Stanford White's design and its tall tower
Third	1925	Eighth Avenue, 49th to 50th Street	Where the young Knicks grew up after 1946
Fourth	1968	Above Penn Station	The 1970 and 1973 banners, and now 2026

The 2026 banner was clinched in Texas and celebrated in Manhattan

The Knicks finished off the San Antonio Spurs in five games, closing out Game 5 on the road on June 13, 2026, by a score of 94-90. Jalen Brunson poured in 45 points that night on the way to Finals MVP, and a banner for 2026 went up beside the ones from 1970 and 1973.

The two finalists meet again on Christmas Day, when the Spurs visit the Garden at noon Eastern. Build this arena through December and the last piece clicks into place one day before that rematch tips off.

Modules on a desk: blue stands, the curved facade, a hoop and a section of court.

A December of doors ends with the trophy at center court

The pieces of the bowl come out one morning at a time: tiers of blue seats, curved facade walls lettered with the arena's name, a hoop on its stanchion and wooden sections of court trimmed in orange and blue. They connect into a ring, the scoreboard settles above it, and on December 24 the gold trophy takes its place in the middle of the floor.

Box, open door tray and loose modules beside the tree, the gold trophy waiting at the end.

Set it next to our Knicks 2026 champions Christmas skyline sweater and the holiday is covered from the coffee table to the couch. Long after the wrapping paper is gone, the finished Garden stays on the shelf as a small, bright reminder of the June night in San Antonio when the wait ended.

A fan holds the box up, about to start the countdown.
