Alabama Crimson Tide x Timberland Roll Tide Crimson Boots

Say "Roll Tide" at a gas station in Tuscaloosa and you will hear it straight back, usually with a grin. People sign letters with it, end phone calls with it and shout it across parking lots at strangers in the right shade of red. Few college slogans have escaped the stadium so completely.

So the phrase gets top billing here, in cream letters near the heel of one boot. The upper is a rich crimson, the cream collar carries two crimson stripes, and the script A sits on the outer side of the other boot. A small elephant in a crimson sweater stands by the laces, and a rolling wave pattern is pressed into each toe. The box shows Bryant-Denny Stadium in fine line.

The name came out of the mud in 1907

In the early years, Alabama's teams went by plainer nicknames. Then came a 1907 game against Auburn played in deep red mud, and a Birmingham sportswriter described the Alabama players as a crimson tide. The name stuck harder than the mud.

This is why the wave on the toe matters. It is the tide itself, rolling forward, and it turns a team name into a pattern you can wear.

Each mark on the boot has a story

Nothing on the pair is there by accident. Each detail points to a piece of Alabama history:

On the boot	Where it comes from
The script A	The letter Alabama fans have worn on caps, banners and flags for generations
The elephant	A 1930 sportswriter described the big Alabama line as elephants on the charge, and Big Al grew from that image
The wave on the toe	The crimson tide of that muddy 1907 game against Auburn
"Roll Tide" at the heel	The greeting, farewell and battle cry heard all over the state
Crimson and cream	The school's colors, with the stripes of a classic letterman collar

The houndstooth blanket in the photos is no accident either. Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant made the houndstooth hat a symbol of Alabama football, and fans still wear the pattern on game days.

The script A, the elephant and the wave, all within the width of a hand.

Bryant-Denny keeps two names on its walls

The stadium opened in 1929, and Bear Bryant's name was added in 1975, while he was still coaching on its sideline. Few programs have honored a coach that way in the middle of his career, and few coaches have deserved it as plainly.

Nick Saban stepped away in January 2024, and Kalen DeBoer now leads a program that measures itself against both of those eras. Whoever walks the sideline, the crowd still answers with the same two words.

The pair is made for the fan who says it first

Timberland has its own history of reinvention: the company took that name in 1978, five years after its yellow boot first appeared. In crimson and cream, the same rugged shape fits a cold Tuscaloosa tailgate as easily as a Christmas visit home.

Give this pair to the fan who answers the phone with "Roll Tide," and add our Crimson Tide quarter-zip sweater for a full game-day outfit. It is the kind of present that gets opened, admired and worn to the very next game.
