Betty Boop’s screen debut becomes a heart-filled Beetle display
Betty Boop 95th Anniversary Classic Beetle Building Block Set
Ninety-five years after her first screen appearance, Betty Boop still works best when the object around her has a little personality of its own.
The Betty Boop 95th Anniversary Classic Beetle Building Block Set does not simply place a character decal on a white model car. Hearts, lipstick kisses, red starbursts and multiple Betty illustrations spread across the hood, doors and fenders, while red-and-white wheels, gold-colored trim and a checkerboard interior turn the entire vehicle into a piece of Betty Boop styling. A rooftop anniversary sign and 1930–2025 plate keep the milestone visible even after the packaging has been put away.

The dates look backward; the Betty artwork shows what endured
Betty Boop first appeared on screen in Fleischer Studios' Dizzy Dishes on August 9, 1930, making 1930–2025 a genuine 95-year screen milestone.
The character in that earliest short was not yet visually identical to the Betty displayed across this car. Her 1930 incarnation still carried anthropomorphic features, and Fleischer Studios notes that Betty evolved over subsequent appearances into the character audiences now recognize.
That distinction suits this anniversary model surprisingly well. The dates point back to Betty's beginning, while the car uses the visual language that survived the decades: curled black hair, red lips, hoop earrings, hearts and a playful pin-up confidence.
The 95th year also arrived while Betty was still being actively reintroduced rather than simply archived. BOOP! The Musical opened on Broadway in 2025, and the production moved into a North American tour in 2026. For collectors, the anniversary therefore sits between nostalgia for early animation and a character still finding new audiences.

Building it changes the relationship with the collectible
The assembly image explains why this format offers something a Betty Boop statue cannot.
The hood, roof, doors and other sections are visibly constructed from individual pieces, so the artwork gradually takes shape alongside the vehicle itself. Instead of opening a finished display object and immediately placing it on a shelf, the owner spends time building the thing that will eventually become the display.
That process is particularly effective here because the decoration continues into details that only become obvious up close. The seats use a red-and-white checkerboard pattern, Betty artwork changes between panels, and the rooftop anniversary sign gives the completed car an almost parade-float or promotional-show-car personality.
The Beetle silhouette adds another layer of retro recognition, although it belongs to a different historical timeline than Betty's 1930 debut. Volkswagen traces civilian series production of the famous Type 1 to late 1945. The pairing is therefore better understood as two enduring forms of twentieth-century pop nostalgia brought together, not as a literal recreation of a vehicle from Betty's first year.

For the collector who wants more than another Betty figure
That crossover is also the clearest reason to choose this set.
A Betty Boop collector gets a recognizable character piece, but in a format that occupies more visual space than a small figurine. A building-model fan gets the opposite: a familiar rounded car silhouette transformed by character art instead of presented as a plain automotive replica.
Once assembled, the model can sit comfortably among books, figures or other Betty memorabilia, while the anniversary roof sign and date plate prevent it from becoming just another decorative car.

For a collector who already has conventional Betty Boop merchandise, that is the appeal: the 95th anniversary is not merely printed onto another object — it becomes something they have to build before they can display it.
For someone who specifically likes the build-and-display side of this set, the Betty Boop Coca-Cola 140th Anniversary Building Block Set is the stronger companion because it keeps Betty Boop within another anniversary-led brick collectible instead of changing product type entirely.
